Introduced by Rep. Doug Ericksen, (R-Ferndale) (R) on February 5, 2009, authorizes the legislative authority of certain counties, a flood control district board of directors as well as diking district authorities to direct the removal of gravel from streams or other watercourses if they have deemed that the gravel removal would reduce the impact of potential flooding within their perspective jurisdictions. Prohibits the department of natural resources, the department of fish and wildlife, and the department of ecology from prohibiting, conditioning, penalizing, or requiring mitigation of a flood control district, a diking district, or a county legislative authority operating under the act when removing gravel from streams or other watercourses for flood control or flood impact reduction purposes
