Introduced by Rep. Dawn Morrell, (D-Puyallup) (D) on February 2, 2009, mandates that health care insurers have open pharmacy networks. Forbids insurers from limiting the purchase of prescription medicines to certain pharmacies. Insurers cannot deny a qualified pharmacy from becoming a provider in their network. Does not apply to health maintenance organizations that provide their own pharmacy services nor to health plans offered to public employees. Other exemptions apply.
