Currently, a court cannot award more than $50 dollars a day in damages for unauthorized impounds. This bill would remove the limit on damages, making the amount that could be awarded for damages unlimited.

Testimony in support offered to the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee on February 9, 2004, by Tom Parker, City of Spokane , who testified that in Spokane, a car was determined to be improperly impounded and due to court delays and the $50 a day minimum, the city had to pay $12,000 for a $300 car that did
not run.
